Pillar Candle Minimum Burn Times

To properly burn pillar candles, burn them at LEAST 1 hour for each inch of their diameter at each lighting. Examples: 2"x6" pillars should be burned at least 2 hours at each lighting, 3"x5", 3"x7" and 3"x9" pillars should be burned for at least 3 hours at each lighting, 4"x9" pillars should be burned for at least 4 hours at each lighting, and 3-wicks (6"x8") should be burned for at least 6 hours at each lighting. The reason for this is, it takes that long for the entire top of each type of pillar candle to completely melt. Burning the pillars for the proper minimum time assures that the candle burns evenly and the top stays flat.

Jars and Votives

For best burning, all jar and votive candles should not be extinguished until liquid covers the top. Do not allow flame to directly touch side of container. Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains. Keep wick trimmed to ¼ inch or less at all times to prevent smoking. Container may become hot. Handle carefully. Always use a protective surface as bottom of jar can become hot. Extinguish flame before replacing lid. For maximum burning time, always burn votive candles in a container approximately the size of the candle. Always remove wick tabs from the votive cup before adding a new votive. Never leave candles burning unattended.
